About 120 primary school teachers from Blantyre Urban have received various monetary awards from United Civil Servants SACCO – UCSSACCO for equipping their standard 8 learners with knowledge that enabled them to score grade A in the 2025 Primary School Leaving Certificate Examination.
The awards are aimed at motivating the teachers to continue investing quality knowledge in primary school learners for excellent results in National examinations which in turn helps the country to have productive citizens.

Speaking during the awards presentation ceremony in Mulanje, District Education Manager for Blantyre Urban Cryton Tambala commended UCSSACCO for the generous Support. Tambala said the partnership that exists between Blantyre Urban teachers and UCSSACCO is very crucial in uplifting the country’s education standards.
“A teacher whose hard work is recognised and rewarded is always motivated and continues to deliver exceptional results, the gesture by United Civil Servants SACCO to award all teachers whose learners have scored As in their PSLCE is a testament of a dedicated organisation in enhancing the country’s education standards.

United Civil Servants SACCO (UCS SACCO) has diffused the furniture challenge at Nkhotakota District Office (DHO) by donating two four-seater airport chairs valued at k3 million. The charity gesture, is part and parcel of UCS SACCO’s corporate social responsibility with which the institution undertakes in order to complement government efforts towards social welfare. UCS SACCO’s head of member service, Albert Fuka Moyo, described the donation as a response to a need that was brought to the attention of UCS SACCO’s Chief Executive Officer, Francis Waliwa, when he visited Nkhotakota DHO earlier this year. “As an institution, we have a mandate to change lives, which is why we keep on supporting the communities that we serve. I am optimistic that this particular donation will improve patient welfare in the sense that patients will no longer stand for long hours whilst waiting to receive medical attention,” said Moyo. In an acceptance speech on behalf of the hospital, Nkhotakota District Office (DHO) Medical officer, Dr. Mussa Kambona, acknowledged the facility’s shortage of furniture, noting that the available chairs are inadequate. Dr. Kambona has since thanked United Civil Servants SACCO for the donation, describing it as timely as patients brace up for a good experience as they wait for medical services at the hospital.
By virtue of its commitment towards corporate social responsibility, United Civil Servants SACCO (UCS SACCO) has touched the lives of 31 visually impaired learners in boarding at Salima Resource Centre in Salima by donating food items. As a way of outpouring love to the learners and elevating their spirits, United Civil Servants SACCO shared lunch with the learners, and indulged the learners in different sporting activities. UCS SACCO also donated clothes and shoes at the centre. In Nkhatabay, UCS SACCO, donated food items at Bandawe School for the Hearing Impairment, signifying the institution’s continued commitment in supporting the resource centre each and every term. In Nsanje, UCS SACCO has adopted Matundu Resource Centre to be one of its beneficiary academic institutions. Headteacher for Matundu Resource Centre, Samson Ng'ando thanked UCS SACCO for the gesture saying the children lack food and other essential needs. UCS SACCO’s Marketing and Communication Supervisor, Alepher Kasongo, reaffirmed the SACCO’s commitment towards supporting various groups of the society stating that it is vital to complement government efforts towards social welfare and affordable education. At all the three centres, the donated food items included Rice, Maize, Sugar, Cooking Oil, Beans, Soya Pieces, and Salt.
Partnership crucial in uplifting the Nurses welfare Minister of Health and Sanitation Madalitso Baloyi has commended the invaluable role local and international health partners play in uplifting the welfare of nurses in the country.Addressing hundreds of nurses that gathered at Nsanje Youth Centre, Baloyi said partners are crucial in empowering nurses in various ways including trainings, financial literacy, which help nurses to deliver their duties professionally.
