United Civil Servants SACCO (UCS SACCO) has reached out to Dedza District Hospital with a donation of 2 sets of desktop computers and a printer worth 7 million kwacha as a way of enhancing efficiency at the public health facility.


UCS SACCO’s Head of operations, Francis Kandonga, underscored that the donation is a response to the theft of computers in the laboratory of Dedza district hospital in December, which has since scaled down laboratory computerized services at the hospital.


β€œAs an institution, we trust that the donation which we have made at Dedza District Hospital will help to accelerate quality delivery of health services considering that the hospital was previously lacking in terms of electronic devices in particular computers and printers,” said Kandonga.


Speaking after receiving the computers, Dedza District Health Officer (DHO) DR. Isaac Mbingwani, commended UCS SACCO for the donation describing it as timely and crucial as the new computers pave room for the hospital to operate screening services for some diseases instead of referring its patients to Lilongwe Central hospital.

UCS SACCO DIFFUSES FURNITURE CHALLENGE AT NKHOTAKOTA DHO

United Civil Servants SACCO (UCS SACCO) has diffused the furniture challenge at Nkhotakota District Office (DHO) by donating two four-seater airport chairs valued at k3 million. The charity gesture, is part and parcel of UCS SACCO’s corporate social responsibility with which the institution undertakes in order to complement government efforts towards social welfare. UCS SACCO’s head of member service, Albert Fuka Moyo, described the donation as a response to a need that was brought to the attention of UCS SACCO’s Chief Executive Officer, Francis Waliwa, when he visited Nkhotakota DHO earlier this year. β€œAs an institution, we have a mandate to change lives, which is why we keep on supporting the communities that we serve. I am optimistic that this particular donation will improve patient welfare in the sense that patients will no longer stand for long hours whilst waiting to receive medical attention,” said Moyo. In an acceptance speech on behalf of the hospital, Nkhotakota District Office (DHO) Medical officer, Dr. Mussa Kambona, acknowledged the facility’s shortage of furniture, noting that the available chairs are inadequate.  Dr. Kambona has since thanked United Civil Servants SACCO for the donation, describing it as timely as patients brace up for a good experience as they wait for medical services at the hospital.

By virtue of its commitment towards corporate social responsibility, United Civil Servants SACCO (UCS SACCO) has touched the lives of 31 visually impaired learners in boarding at Salima Resource Centre in Salima by donating food items. As a way of outpouring love to the learners and elevating their spirits, United Civil Servants SACCO shared lunch with the learners, and indulged the learners in different sporting activities. UCS SACCO also donated clothes and shoes at the centre. In Nkhatabay, UCS SACCO, donated food items at Bandawe School for the Hearing Impairment, signifying the institution’s continued commitment in supporting the resource centre each and every term. In Nsanje, UCS SACCO has adopted Matundu Resource Centre to be one of its beneficiary academic institutions. Headteacher for Matundu Resource Centre, Samson Ng'ando thanked UCS SACCO for the gesture saying the children lack food and other essential needs. UCS SACCO’s Marketing and Communication Supervisor, Alepher Kasongo, reaffirmed the SACCO’s commitment towards supporting various groups of the society stating that it is vital to complement government efforts towards social welfare and affordable education. At all the three centres, the donated food items included Rice, Maize, Sugar, Cooking Oil, Beans, Soya Pieces, and Salt.
