UCS SACCO FURNITURES SALIMA FISHERIES OFFICE

True to its slogan of “changing lives”, United Civil Servants SACCO-UCS SACCO has changed the interior outlook for Salima District Fisheries office with office furniture worth 5 million Malawi Kwacha.Speaking after handing over the furniture, UCS SACCO's head of Customer Service and Member Engagement, Albert Moyo, said the gesture reflects the SACCO’s unwavering devotion to complementing government's efforts in creating better working environments for excellent service delivery in the public sector.“We are a market leader among all the SACCO’s in Malawi, and one of the fastest growing SACCO's in Africa. But beyond that, we are self-mandated to serve the general needs of Malawians. For instance, we are targeting to plant 2 million trees by 2028 and we intend to renovate a resource centre in Nsanje,” Moyo said. Speaking after receiving the furniture, Salima district fisheries officer Patrick Zakeyu, commended UCS SACCO for the donation describing it as timely and crucial. Salima District Fisheries office is one of the significant offices that promote and safeguard fishing activities in Lake Malawi.

UCSSACCO LAUNCHES MPONELA BRANCH

On 24th February 2026, United Civil Servants SACCO proudly launched its Mponela Branch at the heart of Mponela, marking a significant milestone in the institution's continued growth and expansion. The event was officially graced by the Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of Malawi, Mr. Henry Mathanga, who served as Guest of Honour. In his keynote address, he recommended United Civil Servants SACCO as the torchbearer among all SACCOs in Malawi. He commended the institution for its remarkable achievements, strong governance, and financial discipline, describing it as a shining example of resilience and sustainable growth within the country's cooperative financial sector. The CEO of Malawi Union of Savings and Credit Cooperatives (MUSCCO), Mr. Fumbani Nyangulu, also applauded the SACCO for raising the standards of the SACCO movement in Malawi. He praised its leadership, innovation, and consistent growth, further acknowledging the United Civil Servants SACCO Board as one of the most organized and influential boards within the cooperative movement. The Board Chair of United Civil Servants SACCO, Mr. Fletcher Mhango, expressed pride in the SACCO's achievements and growth trajectory. He highlighted the unity between the Board, Management, and the members as the foundation of the institution's success and reaffirmed the Board's commitment to sound governance and strategic leadership.In his remarks, the Chief Executive Officer of United Civil Servants SACCO, Mr. Francis Waliwa, assured members and stakeholders of the SACCO's continued growth and national impact. He emphasized that the institution remains financially strong and forward-looking. Mr Waliwa also introduced the new diaspora membership initiative, which will allow Malawians living abroad to save and invest through the SACCO, contributing to increased foreign exchange inflows and supporting Malawi's economic development. The launch of the Mponela Branch therefore stands as a testament to United Civil Servants SACCO's unwavering commitment to growth, excellence, and member empowerment across the nation.

UCS SACCO TAKES PART IN CHITIPA TREE PLANTING EXERCISE

As a means to express its profound commitment towards environmental conservation, United Civil Servants SACCO-UCSSACCO has sponsored Chitipa District Council’s tree planting launch to plant 1.1 million trees in the district. Speaking during the tree planting exercise, Chairperson for Chitipa District Council Given Kitha, underscored the need to sensitize the general public about the significance of planting and nurturing trees. “There is need for mindset change among Malawians when it comes to environmental conservation. United Civil Servants SACCO-UCSSACCO has again exercised its corporate social responsibility when it reached out to Bandawe School for the hearing impairment in Nkhatabay with food items worth of millions of kwacha. Speaking during the donation, UCSSACCO’s Mzuzu branch Manager Yohane Chirwa emphasized the Organisation’s commitment towards quality education for hearing impaired learners . “As an institution, we regard children as our future leaders. Therefore, it is our primary goal to provide them with basic needs such as food to enable them focus fully on their studies for excellent results,” Chirwa said.
